Hey hey HEY hey! I am now in Arlington, VA– which ain’t nothing but a shuttle ride into Washington DC. Going to spend the weekend networking and understanding the concept of leadership, brand yourself, and also build the foundation to success. While doing so, my lovely gal pal Sarah (an amateur photographer) will be taking the on the role of being my blog photographer. I’m not usually a person who wears business attire on a regular basis but this weekend is an exception and it gave me the opportunity to play dress up. I should get used to this because I intend on being your First Lady one day (David, if you will have me..if not, then…well…Plan B — I become President. Either way, it’s a win-win for me).
Tell me that this head shot does not look business-y to you! TELL ME. Kidding, don’t. I think it looks wonderful and Sarah really captured a good face shot. Normally, I hate pictures of my face. Seriously, it’s not my thing. I often hate my face because I feel that I’m not a very photogenic person. HOWEVER, my lovely photographers can create miracles.
I have been slacking with blogging lately because life has gotten super busy but this weekend is a great time to update a lot because of the multiple things we will be doing. ALSO, I have to actually dress up and not just walk around in gym clothes like a bum. I don’t even know if this is a good thing or a bad thing. We can pretend that it’s a great thing! ENJOY! haha. ❤

My friend/fellow blogger flew in from Chicago for the weekend and what was our first adventure? To the museum of fine arts! We saw different pieces from the Egyptians Era to Modern Art. It was definitely a different experience but we really enjoyed it.

The best part about being in the military is getting into the museum for me! #perksofbeingmiltiary
From their website: The Art of the Ancient World collection ranks among the premier encyclopedic collections in the world, with over 83,000 works of art from Egypt, Nubia, the Near East, Greece, Italy, Cyprus, and Anatolia. The objects in the collection range in date from about 6500 BC to AD 600 and cover a broad geographical expanse, from Britain to Afghanistan. There is something for everyone, including sculpture, jewelry, coffins, mummies, coins, weapons, architecture, vases, carved gems, musical instruments, and mosaics.
I wish I had a full understanding of what art is..like, in a way where I can talk about it and just interpret what it means. I still have an appreciation for it nonetheless.
Be sure to check out their website! It was definitely a fun way to spend a couple of hours.
You know everyone is going to be posting about something pertaining to New Years—whether it’s about resolutions or reminiscing—everyone is talking about it. Let me just join that trend/bandwagon. I remember really looking forward to 2013’ because my 2012’ was kind of a tough year. My sense of direction was awful when it came to the whole “where do I go from here”? However, 2013—it was not so bad. I slowly got comfortable in my own skin. I met some pretty cool people that I think [hope] will stay in my life for a while. [Nicolette and I have already formed a solid bond of being soul sisters.] I don’t want to highlight things in bullet form because 2013’ wasn’t bad but it wasn’t all that great [besides my 4.0 GPA—I’m still so proud of that. Ha!]
Instead, let me just list out everything that I plan on accomplishing for 2014.
Maintain the 4.0 GPA: This may be over the top nerdy but I want this more than anything because this is the single thing that I have complete control over. If I get below a 4.0, I won’t kill myself but I will be particularly more disappointed if I failed this goal versus the others.
Travel to Yucatan Peninsula: Because it’s freaking Mexico and I want to travel out of the country.
Eat clean and continue staying fit: If you want your body to look a certain way then you have to dedicate yourself. Plus there is nothing like the benefits of living a healthy life and having people go “wow, I want to look like that.” [A vain statement indeed, however—I say that about people all the time.]
Read 100 books: it might be a lot for some, or minimal to others, but to me—as well as Nicolette—this is something important. Reading is so important for mental stimulation. I want to expand my vocabulary and I want to better my writing skill.
Pay off all my credit card bills: I refuse to pay for a trip to Yucatan if I can’t afford it. This is good because I won’t be eating out or going out as much because I’ll either be studying, working out, or reading. TOO BUSY!
So those are my five goals. Five resolutions. I guess we’ll see how it goes. Now, onto Wardrobe Wednesday!
